The product range being offered in the region has been specifically tailored to meet local oceanographic and operational requirements and to fulfill local content requirements. How do we do this?
Our Cathodic Protection systems are all assembled locally, All SmartMat based products contain significant local content in supply of concrete aggregates, aluminum anodes, and 100% local assembly from a locally maintained inventory of modular components.
Our inspection teams are made up of US, European, Asian & African national from Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana. Our unique web linked training program facilitates frequent technical assessments between local technical staff and our UK and USA based application specialists. These specialists will travel to the region from time to time to conduct on-site updates and refreshers on our design software packages and templates. The first such course is scheduled in late July in Malabo, at the Paraiso Hotel. Key local personnel include:
Alfredo (Al) Jones - Group Managing Director (Alduco Engineering Services, Equatorial Guinea & Alduco Energy, Nigeria)
Alfredo Jones graduated from Westminster University in London in 1991. After that he completed his postgraduate studies In Engineering design & Business studies from Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland and Kingston University, Kingston, UK.
He started his professional career as a design engineer with Nokia Telecoms in the UK. He later worked for Ericsson, Cable & Wire less, AT&T as a programme manager. In 2000 he started working as an independent oil & gas consultant specializing in the Gulf of Guinea, advising companies like GEPetrol (National oil company of Equatorial Guinea), international businesses & finance houses looking at opportunities in the Gulf of Guinea. In 2002 he setup Alduco in Equatorial Guinea, as a local engineering & asset integrity management company providing services to the oil & gas sector there. Clients have included Mobil, Bechtel, EGLNG, Atlantic Methanol etc Alduco has since opened a branch in Nigeria providing asset integrity management services.
Amobi (Moby) Umeadi (Technical Manager – Cathodic Protection)
Amobi Umeadi joined the Deepwater team in London in 2005. He received his MSc in Materials & Corrosion from the University of Manchester. Since that time he has worked in the Aberdeen location as a Cathodic Protection engineer. There he was involved in several offshore retrofit initiatives and was a team member during a Shell anode foundry qualification audit. From there he moved to the Houston HQ where he worked under the direction of the central projects team on a number of Gulf of Mexico based programs, during this period he also underwent specific training on Deepwater’s products and calculators. He was then transferred to Deepwater’s Malaysian sister company MPE, in Malaysia where he worked on a team commissioning a new anode foundry operation in Kuantan. He was assigned to a large offshore life extension study for BP Indonesia, and worked on a number of offshore life extension projects in Malaysia from the Kuala Lumpur office. In 2009 he returned to Houston for updated product training which is where he is presently located. He will relocate permanently to the region at the start of 2010.
